Our priority is to help you get back to business quickly with our comprehensive tank repair services. Our engineers and field crew are knowledgeable about the repair methods and materials that are used, and have a proven track record of successfully completed projects.

Codes and Standards

During the industrial tank repair process, it is crucial to adhere to the guidelines and requirements outlined in API 653 and other industry standard. This process may involve various repair techniques such as cold-cutting, hot work welding, cold-curing, and application of protective sealants. Additionally, reinforcement beams may be necessary to ensure the structural integrity of the tank during and after the repair process. It is important that all work is conducted following industry standards to guarantee the safety and functionality of the tank.

Tank Inspection

Our experienced team is available to visit customers for on-site inspection. Some of our inspection services are:

  1. Visual inspection of welds, coatings, and inspection for corrosion

  2. Thickness testing and mapping

  3. Engineering analysis, to confirm the tank or silo meets current requirements and is structurally sound

Assistance with Request for Proposal

Storage tank repair work often begins with an RFP. Phillips Tank & Structure can work with you to create the project scope, specifications, drawings, and other relevant information. The RFP may also include requirements for project schedules and contractor qualifications.

Structural Engineering

Our experienced structural engineers work closely with clients to evaluate structural issues, including foundation design. Industrial tanks and silos must be able to withstand potential forces such as wind, seismic activity, and harsh weather conditions.

Steel Detailing

Phillips Tank & Structure has an in-house design group. We create detailed 3D models to accurately represent every component of the tank, including steel plates, supports, and connections. Fabrication drawings generated from the 3D model provide better fitment, reducing the likelihood of errors or delays during construction.

Metal Fabrication

We fabricate everything from custom manway covers to the complete tank bottom, shell, roof, piping, and nozzles. Our quality control ensures that all parts meet or exceed industry standards.

On-Site Tank Repair Work

Our skilled field crews can provide a range of storage tank repair services, including welds, patches, reinforcement, and replacement of damaged components. On-site repair services can extend the lifespan of your storage tank and ensure that it remains safe for operation.

When it comes to industrial tank repair, safety measures must be followed to ensure a safe working environment for personnel in or near the storage tanks. This includes the use of appropriate safety equipment and adherence to industry-standard safety procedures.

New Tank Installation

For new installations, a dedicated team oversees the entire process from engineering to delivery and installation of the tank. This guarantees a safe and efficient project, reducing the risk of future complications. By partnering with us for long-term maintenance, facility owners can optimize their return on investment and have confidence in the performance of their storage tanks throughout their service life.

Types of Industrial Storage Tank Damage

Foundation Failure

Foundations that are undersized or built on soil with uneven bearing strength put the tank at risk of deformation and rupture. As foundations settle over time, the initial compaction may be uneven across the structure. Based on a third-party inspection report, PTS will determine if the settlement poses any threat to the tank.

Wear and Corrosion

Steel storage tanks can rust or wear during their service life, leading to leaks and environmental damage. Corrosion is often hidden behind insulation or the underside of steel plates. To detect corrosion damage, inspections are required at regular intervals. Repairs for seal fabric or cold-cure sealant can be completed in-service, but welding, grinding, and other hot work requires flammable products to be emptied and cleaned before repairs begin.

Impact or Equipment Interference

Trucks and forklifts pose a risk to liquid storage tanks if collisions are not prevented. Similarly, gauge poles or mixers can damage the tank if they are not properly secured.

Vacuum or Over-Pressure

Internal vapor can expand or contract rapidly with temperature changes, especially during loading or unloading activities. Vents must be kept clear to prevent tanks from crumpling like a pop can. If a tank has already been damage, our field crew can cut away bent sections and reconstruct it.

Considerations For Industrial Tank Repair

How can you find a reliable company for industrial tank repair?

To find a reliable tank repair company, research online reviews, check their certifications and experience, ask for referrals, and ensure they offer emergency services. It's crucial to have a trustworthy partner for critical maintenance. PTS has the expertise and years of experience needed to get the job done right.

Because industrial storage tanks are subjected to harsh conditions, the wear and tear must be monitored and corrected over time.

Regular inspection is important to ensure the tank’s integrity. During an inspection, our team of skilled technicians will carefully examine for signs of physical damage, corrosion, or leaks. Non-destructive testing methods can include visual inspection, ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, hydrostatic testing, and pneumatic testing.

Our team of engineers and designers work carefully with clients to determine the best solution for each project:
